Sechelt

Sechelt is a growing seaside community on BC’s beautiful lower Sunshine Coast.  Less than two hours travel from the Lower Mainland, Sechelt offers the advantages of life in a smaller community with easy access to the services of a major metropolitan area. Sechelt is accessible from the mainland by a 40-minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, and a 25-minute drive from Langdale along Highway 101, also known as the Sunshine Coast Highway.

Work: Sechelt’s economy is based largely on retail and service trades, construction, tourism and hospitality, natural resource sectors and light manufacturing. It also attracts tele-commuters from Vancouver who don’t need to be on site every day.

Play: Sechelt is surrounded by water and locals delight in all the watersports you can imagine! From fishing and diving to paddleboarding and kayaking. Even if you’re not into watersports, you can be a beach bum and enjoy long walks along the shores or simply burning a log and viewing a beautiful sunset. There’s also 55 beach access trails for those who do not live directly on the beach.

Culture: The arts and culture in Sechelt is outstanding. There are so many community events, local artists and local musicians including The Sechelt Arts Festival, Festival of the Written Arts, Rogue Festival and Sunshine Coast Art Crawl attract visitors year-round. Readers and writers from across the Pacific Northwest and Canada come to Sechelt for the annual Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts in mid-August.
