Pros of Moving to a Smaller Community
- Beautiful homes in smaller communities can be had for ½ or ¼ of the price of Vancouver homes
- More time for you family
- More money left over for vacations
- Less traffic & less pollution
- Slower Pace & less stress
- Less crime
- Less crowds
- Your neighbours know who you are
- Closer to nature
- Friendlier people – sense of community
- Healthier outdoor living
- More me-time – to relax, go biking, hiking, yoga etc.
- Cashing out of the Lower Mainland market will put a lot of cash in your pocket
- Alternatively, if this is your first home – it’s likely much more affordable than a condo in downtown Vancouver.
Cons of Moving to a Smaller Community
- Jobs are likely harder to find
- Schools may lack some amenities and programs
- Teenagers may want more action
- Streets can be deserted
- Life is slower
- Far from the shopping on Robson Street
- Fewer restaurants, pubs and cafes
- Your neighbours know who you are
- Hospitals may be worth considering
- Depending on how small the town is – consider internet connections may be slower
- Limited facilities – consider libraries, community centres, art galleries etc.
- Trips to the city can be long
